Conditioning Swimming and Dry Fire Sprint Drills

Swam for 45mins. Fastest 25meters so far has been 25.44 secs, Average about 1min per 25meters, at normal rock speed.

Did Some speed work during Dry Fire.

---Layout---

Placed six paper targets about 10yards away, grouping them in 2s and separating them about 5 feet from each set. Used 2 shoot boxes at each end of the targets.

---Plan---

From Shoot Box 1, draw from holster and "shoot" targets across with 2 shots a piece, then target closest middle target with 2 shoots. Sprint to Next Shoot box, performing a reload, engage next three targets.

---Execution---

Did this exercise for 30 mins strait. At First I timed myself with my stopwatch, from starting in box 1 and ending in box 2. Average was about 6secs. Then around 15mins of doing this, I started to do it 3 consecutive sprints. Averaging 13secs. Biggest focus here was coming from a dead stop just before my foot hit the box, line up my sight picture, and as my right foot hit the box, have trigger squeezed at point of fire, and pull the trigger as my left foots leaves the ground just outside of the box. Then stabilizing that foot to a shooting position to finish up and get ready to do a "Hard Takeoff" to the other box.

Doing this Right to left was pretty easy as my lead foot was my right foot every time and the extra momentum while swinging my left foot in the box was easier to plant in a shooting position. Not quite so Easy going left to right. As I plant my lead foot (Right foot) and had my sight picture, the momentum of my left foot would some times go right behind my right leg putting me in a funny position to shoot. I was able to maintain sight picture on all 3 targets, but it put me in such a bad position that i couldn't get a good leap off to run back to the other box. Plus I'm not sure how well I would had shot if using live rounds. All in all Good practice, I need to work on my reloads a little more while I'm doing a dead sprint. To many times the mag wouldn't completely eject by the time I had "dumped" it, grabbed a new mag and ready to put in. Gotta work on tilting the gun against direction of movement to help the mag drop faster. Also about 1/3 of the time I miss grab the mag with my thumb, instead of my index as lead, so it put my load hand in weird position to reload, I'd get the reload lock, but I can just see wasting alot of time trying to re straiting my sight picture and rotating my offhand back into a pistol support hold.
